The Barrie Soccer Club will again be offering the U9 Select Program.
The Select program is a progression in development for kids and coaches to have the opportunity to compete against other communities in Huronia District on a weekly basis.
This is not a Rep program but mirrors some of the characteristics i.e. selection, practice , play outside of the Barrie Soccer Club House League, travel and play against other Huronia Clubs.
The 2011 U9 Select Program will begin with a selection process on Saturday, August 21st and Sunday, August 22nd, 2010. A pool of up to 30 players will be selected to take part in the Winter Development Program that will run from November 2010 to March 2011. Training sessions will take place once per week on Sunday afternoons at Georgian College and will be directed by the Clubs technical staff. There is a cost for the Winter Development Program based on facility rentals.
At the end of the Winter Development Program; another tryout process will take place; 28 players in each of the girls and boys division will be selected to compete on two ‘balanced’ teams consisting of 14 players per team. The commitment level expectation will be at least two practices and one game per week starting in April and will continue until early September. If you spend a good part of your summer at a family cottage (which would result in missed practices and games) or take an extra long vacation (one month or more) the Select program is not a recommended choice for your son/daughter. If your son/daughter is chosen to play on an Under 9 Select team, they will not be playing in our regular House League Program.
The four teams (two male and two female) will be entered in the Simcoe County Youth Soccer League (SCYSL) for the 2011 outdoor season. There is a cost for this program above the Club registration fee; the fee for the 2010 season was $175; 2011 fees will be set at a later date after the SCYSL AGM; which goes towards upgraded uniforms, carding players, plus SCYSL game and referee fees.
Note: Tournaments and additional equipment extra.
The structure of the Barrie Soccer Club Development Program is as follows. We have the U7 and U8 Development Program, the U9 Select program and then the launch of both Rep and All-Star programs at U10.
